On January 2, 2021, Albin P. Crutchfield, Jr., 83, of Roanoke VA, went to be with the Lord Jesus, whom he received as his personal savior in July, 1953 at a summer camp in Zellwood, FL. He met his wife and lifelong best friend, Marjorie “Midge” Dean at Wheaton College in Illinois.

Albin served in the United States Army from 1959-1965 as a trumpet player in the army field band. He was former Minister of Youth and Music at First Baptist Church, Laurel, MD; former chorale teacher at Roanoke Valley Christian Schools; and former Associate Pastor at Shenandoah Baptist Church in Roanoke. In his retirement, he enjoyed playing trumpet with Winds of the Blue Ridge and the Shenandoah Baptist Church orchestra.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Midge Crutchfield of Roanoke; daughter Karen Rawl of San Diego; daughter Kathy Naff (Rodney) of Roanoke; daughter Kim Park (Nate) of Roanoke; grandsons Alen Naff (Whitney); Jeremy Naff (Katie); Darren Naff (Amanda); Landon Park and Garrett Park; and nine great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Albin and Mary Crutchfield; brothers James S. Crutchfield II (Patsy) of Jacksonville, FL; Sheldon Crutchfield (Nisa) of Deland, FL; and sister Anne McDowell of Titusville, FL.

A memorial service will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Camp Eagle via the Shenandoah Baptist Church, 6520 Williamson Rd. NW Roanoke, VA 24019

To my cousins, Karen, Kathy, and Kim, and my aunt Midge...I have so many wonderful memories of uncle Al but the ones that stand out the most are his love of the Lord and love of his family. I am so grateful for his example and am truly blessed for having known him. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Love, Shari, Jon and Kristen

Dear Midge and Family,
Albin was a real testimony to all who knew him, and we will miss him in so many ways. We first got to know him through Wednesday morning prayer meetings when there were about a dozen people attending!
His welcoming smile and love for people showed his closeness to the Lord. He always had time for everyone and was always ready to say a word for the Lord. Both of us will deeply miss him.
From Jim and Jane Anderson

We will all miss him. Love, Nancy and Jacob

To my dear sis, Midge. Albin was firmly rooted in the scriptures and his life branch out to so many as he shared his love for Christ.
