On January 2, 2021, Albin P. Crutchfield, Jr., 83, of Roanoke VA, went to be with the Lord Jesus, whom he received as his personal savior in July, 1953 at a summer camp in Zellwood, FL. He met his wife and lifelong best friend, Marjorie “Midge” Dean at Wheaton College in Illinois.
Albin served in the United States Army from 1959-1965 as a trumpet player in the army field band. He was former Minister of Youth and Music at First Baptist Church, Laurel, MD; former chorale teacher at Roanoke Valley Christian Schools; and former Associate Pastor at Shenandoah Baptist Church in Roanoke. In his retirement, he enjoyed playing trumpet with Winds of the Blue Ridge and the Shenandoah Baptist Church orchestra.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Midge Crutchfield of Roanoke; daughter Karen Rawl of San Diego; daughter Kathy Naff (Rodney) of Roanoke; daughter Kim Park (Nate) of Roanoke; grandsons Alen Naff (Whitney); Jeremy Naff (Katie); Darren Naff (Amanda); Landon Park and Garrett Park; and nine great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Albin and Mary Crutchfield; brothers James S. Crutchfield II (Patsy) of Jacksonville, FL; Sheldon Crutchfield (Nisa) of Deland, FL; and sister Anne McDowell of Titusville, FL.
