Obituary for Algie McCoy

Algie E. McCoy, 80, of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023. He was born on January 2, 1943, in Roanoke, Virginia to the late James Albert “Mac” McCoy and the late Lora McCoy. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Nancy McCoy; four brothers; four sisters; children, Danny Rogers, Mark Rogers, Frank “Chipper” Rogers and Cindy Rogers Sparks; and grand-daughters, Shaela Jade Nelms and Cheyenne Rogers.

Algie is survived by his sisters, Virginia Hendrick and Linda Moore (Richard); children, Angie McCoy, Algie McCoy, Jr. (Kelly), Jeff Rogers (Natasha), Melody Hodges (Robert) and Michael Rogers (Cherie); 26 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.

Algie served in the Virginia Army National Guard. He was married to his loving wife, Nancy McCoy for 43 years. Algie was a devoted employee of Mohawk/Yokohama Tire Manufacturing and retired after 30 years. He was a loving husband to Nancy and loved to have breakfast at Famous Anthony’s with his Yokohama buddies. He loved his family, loved his neighbors and friends and will be greatly missed.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, May 5, 2023 at Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton Virginia with an Elder of the Colonial Avenue Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses officiating.
