Obituary for Ann Woods (Bush)

Ann Bush Woods, age 74, went to be with the Lord on February 13, 2021. She was surrounded by the love and support of her family at home in Mechanicsville, VA. Surviving are one son, Theodore Welker Woods, Jr., and wife Tammy of Roanoke; two daughters, Carrie Ann Noonan and husband Jim of Glen Allen and Holly Gene Waltemyer and husband Allan of Asheville, NC; two sisters-in-law Billie Lee Jarrett and Sally Woods Burton and husband Brown of Roanoke; four grandchildren Mason Allan and Landon Reed Waltemyer and twins, Sylvia Holly and James Welker Noonan; two step-granddaughters Sarah Shepherd and husband Cole and Renee Bartoo and husband Justin; three step great-grandchildren Marcus, Miles, and Carter.
Ann was the daughter of the late Bush-Flora Shoe Company owner Arthur Lester Bush, Sr. Ann was also preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Welker Woods, Sr.; her mother, Ann Moore Bush; and brothers Charles Eugene Bush and Arthur Lester Bush, Jr.

Ann was married in 1966 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Roanoke and has been a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church for the past 25 years.

Many will remember Ann as she never met a stranger. She dedicated her life to making others feel welcome. She often shared stories that would radiate her faith and strong family values.
Ann was above all a loving angel to all her grandchildren. She was also a grandmother to countless kids in her Mechanicsville neighborhood. She is well known for hosting popsicle and watermelon parties and delivering giant gingerbread cookies during the holidays.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Roanoke on Friday, March 5th, at noon. Or attend online at www.standrewsva.org/livestream-masses-leaflets. The graveside service will be private. You are invited to share condolences or memories at www.oakeys.com.

The family suggests memorials be made to American Cancer Society, St. Bridget Catholic Church of Richmond, and St. Andrew’s Catholic Church of Roanoke. Arrangements are by Oakey’s Roanoke Chapel (540-982-2100).
