Billy Zane Gamble

Billy Zane Gamble, 86 years of age, strolled through the Gates of Heaven on Monday, May 8, 2023.  He was a beloved husband, dad, grandpa and friend to many and will be missed by all.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Zelda Gamble of Seven Mile Ford, VA; four brothers and one sister.  He leaves behind his bride of 68 years, Nancy J. Gamble; son, Douglas (Cornbread) Gamble, both of Blue Ridge; daughter, Ginger (Ging) West and favorite son-in-law, Dennis; granddaughter, Megan (Meggie) Phillips; and grandson, Zachary (Wire Twister) Phillips; and great granddaughter, Paislee Rena (PaiPai) all of Lynchburg, VA.  Friends who became family were many with special thankfulness for the Payne Family, Fran Gamble and Paula Adams.

Bill was a member of Bonsack Baptist Church loving and serving his precious Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  He retired as Executive Vice President from Williams Electric Supply Company after 44 years of service and continued his love for the electrical field repairing lamps and restoring antique lamps and light fixtures.  He loved meeting new people, laughing with old friends and he never missed an opportunity to lend a helping hand to those in need.  Bill was precious to so many and his love for others was felt deep always.

There will be a celebration of Bill's blessed life with visitation on Thursday, May 11th, 2023 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm and funeral services on Friday, May 12th, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Oakey's East Chapel led by dear friend, Dr. Robert G. Moore, III.  Interment will follow in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens.
