Bobby M. Bohon, 93, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Bobby was born on September 8, 1930, to Laura and Wilson Bohon in Roanoke, where he lived his entire youth. After attending Jefferson High School, he graduated in 1949 from William Fleming High School and was an active member of Fleming’s Golden Colonels. In high school he carried the local newspaper to Williamson Road neighborhoods and it was on his route that he met the love of his life, Joenell Moon. Bobby enlisted in the US Navy in 1950 and proudly served on the USS Midway. During his enlistment he married Joenell in 1951. Together, they enjoyed 67 years of marriage and traveled all over the world. Upon his honorary military discharge Bobby returned to the employment of the Kroger Company where he held numerous management positions, retiring as a Zone Manager in 1987.
He is survived by their children, Ginger Bohon Carico and her husband, Joe; Todd Bohon and his wife, Emily. Surviving grandchildren include Joshua Carico, Parker Bohon and his wife, Erin; Laura Bohon Hausler and her husband, Micah; Sarah Bohon Flynn and her husband, Ethan. Surviving great grandchildren include Madison Bohon, Abigail Flynn and Charles Henry Bohon.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Joenell and brother, Jimmy.
The family wishes to thank the staff and residents of The Hermitage as well as the wonderful care provided by the Carilion Palliative Care Unit.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests honoring Bobby with a memorial donation to The Hermitage’s Samaritan Program at 1009 Old Country Club Road, Roanoke, VA 24017.
