Obituary for Bonnie Cadd

Bonnie Leech Cadd, 78, of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, following a fearless fight with cancer. Bonnie was born to parents, Charles E. Leech, Sr. and Alice Leech, who preceded her in death along with her loving husband of 42 years, "Kenny" Cadd, her daughter, Leianna Minton, and son, Kevin Cadd. Also preceding her in death are brother, Charles Leech, Jr.; and two sisters, Mary Alice Chumley and Margaret Leech Ray.

For nearly 40 years, Bonnie has been known as "Gaga," a role in which she centered her life around her family, knew exactly when to provide tough love or a nurturing nature, and never hesitated to help any member of her family when in need. She would rarely miss an opportunity to join in fellowship with her family at holidays or events, and found joy in being a mother, grandmother, aunt, and great-grandma. Bonnie possessed a giant personality that was astounding to find in her tiny frame. A look from her alone could elicit just the response she needed from the recipient. She had an incredible wit, and would jump at any chance to make even the thickest-skinned person blush while using her unique way with words. She loved coffee, shopping, and snuggling on the couch with her animals to watch television. Her presence in the lives of all who knew her will be irreplaceable.

Bonnie is survived by her sons, William "W.C." Cadd (Dorene) and Melvin Cadd; Grandchildren, Brandon Nichols (Allyson), Katelyn Dunbar (Brad), Amber Cadd, Taylor Cadd, Summer Cadd, Payton Cadd, Trevor Cadd, Danielle Hash (Christopher), Brittany Jackson (Matthew), Megan Thurman (Travis), Joshua Cadd, Travis Cadd (Kristen), and Samantha Montgomery; along with a sprawling family of in-laws, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, January 16, 2023 at Oakey’s Vinton Chapel, and interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Her family will receive friends on Monday, January 16, 2023 from 1-2 PM at Oakey’s Vinton Chapel.
