Carol Tate, 76, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on June 14, 2022, after a battle with Alzheimers.
Carol was born on May 11, 1946, in Roanoke, Va. She was a 1964 graduate of Jefferson High School, where she was involved in various clubs and activities. She received her MS degree from Radford College and taught elementary school in Roanoke and Troutville for several years, but mainly spent her career at VA Western Community College in the psychology and nursing departments. Carol was a very active member of Calvary Baptist Church serving as a deacon as well as serving on other committees and continued her friendship with many members to this day.
Carol was predeceased by her father, Chapman Douglas Tate Sr.; mother, Madeline Cocke Tate; and brother, Chapman Douglas Tate Jr., "Buddy". She is survived by her sister, Rebecca Tate "Becky" and partner, Marci Weis, of Alexandria, Va.; nieces, Jessica Tate Koch and husband, Richard, of Pittsburgh, Pa., Rachel Tate Seely and husband, Laine, of Marietta, Ga., and Natalie Tate of Roanoke, Va.; great nephews, Jackson Seely of Marietta, Ga., and Ryan Koch of Pittsburgh, Pa.; great nieces, Emma Seely of Seattle, Wash., Abigail Seely of Marietta, Ga., and Olivia Seely of Marietta, Ga.; sister-in-law, Greer Tate of Roanoke, Va., numerous Tate cousins and friends who remained very dear and supportive throughout the years.
The family would like to give special thanks to Brookdale Salem, who took care of Carol these last several years. Special thanks to those in The Memory Care unit, who treated her with much love and care. In addition, we would like to thank Good Samaritan Hospice of Cave Spring, for their loving care and support.
