Obituary for Carolyn Corswandt (Talbot)

Carolyn Talbot Corswandt, 72, of Moneta, Virginia, passed away on November 3, 2023. Born on March 26, 1951, in Roanoke, Virginia, Carolyn was a devoted follower of Jesus and a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Carolyn's life was marked by her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ and her deep love for her family. 

She leaves behind her beloved husband of 50 years, Barry Corswandt. She is also survived by her daughter, Laura Hess and her husband David Hess, and her son, Michael Corswandt and his wife Caroline Corswandt. Carolyn adored her grandchildren, James, Emmet, Jacob, Charlotte, and Harrison, who brought immense joy to her life.

In addition to her immediate family, Carolyn is also survived by her siblings, Emily Talbot-Guillote, Susan Meloy and her husband Andy, Leslie Talbot and his wife Raeann, Mat Talbot and his wife Rebecca, and many loved nieces and nephews, in-laws, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emmet and Bettie Talbot.

Carolyn received her education from Lord Botetourt High School and later pursued higher education at Longwood University. She touched many lives through her many elementary and art teaching roles, including Appomattox Elementary, Fallon Park Elementary, and North Cross School.

Carolyn's faith in Jesus Christ was central in her life and she found inspiration and family at St. John Lutheran Church in Roanoke, Virginia. Her devotion and service to St. John was unwavering and she cherished the friends she made there.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, November 9th at 10am at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Roanoke, Virginia.  A private graveside service will be held for immediate family members directly following the service. There will be no visitation.

Carolyn Talbot Corswandt will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her unconditional love for her family, and her kind and compassionate spirit. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.  John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
