Carolyn Gillispie Jennings St.Clair, 73, of Roanoke, Va., a daughter of the late Arthur Lyle Gillispie and Beulah Siner Gillispie, was born on Thursday, May 11, 1950. She passed away peacefully to be with her Lord on Friday, May 12, 2023, at Carrington Place in Daleville, with her daughter, Jennifer, by her side.

Carolyn was a 1969 graduate of William Fleming High School and attended Virginia Western Community College. She was employed by Shenandoah Life Insurance Company for 37 years where she had many friends.

Carolyn loved the Lord and His creation, especially cats, birds, squirrels, and flowers. She knew the scientific names of them, also. Carolyn was known to stop by the road to get a big rock for her garden. She truly enjoyed time in her beautiful flower gardens and with her pets, especially her cat, Pooh Bear.

Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Jennings Wood; her grandchildren, Amanda Carol Wood (Canyon Clarke Jessee), and Edward Wayne Wood Jr.; her sister and brother-in-law, Kathy Lynn Fritts and Roger Wayne Fritts; her nephews, Michael James Spradlin Jr., and Kevin Barrett; as well as many friends, including Billie Sexton Lester and Karen Peters Hale.

The family will receive friends at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at Oakey’s South Chapel with services to follow at 12 Noon. Pastor Bryan Ratliff will officiate. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem.
