Daniel Price Bryant 86, of Roanoke, peacefully transitioned to his home in heaven after a courageous 25-year+ battle with cancer on Wednesday morning, May 24, 2023.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Virginia Darlene Bryant. Surviving to honor his memory are his caregivers - son, Danny Bryant and daughter, Lisa Taylor (Wayne); grandchildren, Josh Taylor, (Amanda), Sarah Taylor (Drew); absolute gifts in his life, his great-granddaughters, July James and Georgia Price Taylor; and many special nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
Price worked for the Double Envelope Corporation for over 40 years. After retirement, he enjoyed painting for people (mainly so he could talk to them), mowing, visiting people, watching golf with Danny, and a weekly Saturday trip to have a hotdog with Lisa. The oldest of four siblings, Price tenderly cared for Peggy, Carol “Sweetpea” and Bruce in their times of need. He was a kind, humble, gentle man. He was a wonderful neighbor often taking neighbors to appointments and refusing to accept gas money. He was proud to have lived in Bonsack as a child, and if you stopped long enough, he would tell stories one after the other.
Price faithfully attended Villa Heights Baptist Church for the past seven years. He especially loved his Sunday School class, Growth & Encouragement. He was grateful for his church family.
The family would like to thank Dr. Andrew Fintel, Dr. Rolando Santisteban Sosa, and the compassionate nurses on 5 East at Lewis Gale Hospital for care given in his final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Hospital as Price gave monthly to this need that touched his heart.
A graveside service for family and friends will be conducted on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at 10:00 AM in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, by Pastor Chris Brammer and Rev. Matthew Reynolds. A celebration of Price’s life will also be held at later date.
