Obituary for Darcie Palmer
Darcie Ann Reckling Palmer of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at the age of 58. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Harvey Reckling and Mary Lou Pavlik Reckling, her husband Everett Palmer, and brother Michael Reckling. Darcie is survived by her brother, James Reckling and his wife Lynda; her sister-in-law, Christina Wimmer Reckling; stepson, Shane Palmer, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Darcie was born in Detroit, Michigan to George and Mary Lou Reckling. She moved to Salem, Virginia in 1974. She graduated from Salem High School in 1981. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with friends and family, cross stitching, and caring for her pets.
Darcie was employed for over 25 years by Allstate Insurance Company. She won many accolades for her job performance. She was a long-time member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. She was a sweet, loving person that had many friends that will dearly miss her.
The family will receive friends from 5 pm to 7 pm on Monday, August 22, 2022, at Oakey’s Funeral Home Downtown Roanoke location. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. D. Keith Beasley at Oakey’s Funeral Home at 11 am on Tuesday, August 23. Interment will follow at Evergreen Burial Park. After the service, the family will receive family and friends at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. A light luncheon will be provided. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Franklin County Humane Society.
