Dawn Marie Ferrone (Moore), 52,  passed away in the comfort of her home in Roanoke on January 10, 2023 after an unyielding battle with Pancreatic Cancer. She was born in Albany, Georgia on January 19, 1970 and was the daughter of Gerald and Cinda (Eirick) Moore.

With her father in the Navy, her residence in her early life was ever-changing, but she spent much of her adolescence and young adulthood in Canisteo, New York. She was a 1987 graduate of Canisteo High School where she developed lifelong friendships and a deep-rooted support system.

In 1997, Dawn and her family moved to Roanoke, Virginia and became well-established

in the community. Dawn was a businesswoman and entrepreneur. With a passion for fine jewelry and an effortless ability to connect with others, she became an exceptional Sales Professional at Fink’s Jewelers. Dawn was also the co-owner of the popular Italian restaurant, Remini’s, and developed influential relationships with her customers and staff members, who referred to her as “Ma”. She was kind and nurturing to all, never missing an opportunity for words of wisdom and encouragement.

Dawn loved her family. She adored her son, Ryan, and was a dedicated and supportive mother to him. She had a loving connection with her husband, James, who always encouraged her to follow her dreams and change the world.

She is preceded in death by her father, Gerald Moore. She is survived by her husband, James Ferrone; son, Ryan Schirmer and his wife, Laura; mother, Cinda Moore; sister, Brenda Selby and her husband, Ron; brother, Robert Moore and his wife, Kimberly; step-son, Brandon Ferrone; step-daughter, Deanna Ferrone and her husband, Drew; and many special extended family members.

Public visitations will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at Oakey’s South Chapel from 12pm - 2pm and 4pm - 8pm. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for immediate friends and family.
