Deborah “Debbie” Rumburg Fitzwater, 70, of Roanoke, VA, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, March 14, 2023.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Manley and Ogie Rumburg.

Debbie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and daughter.  She was a member of Emmanuel Wesleyan Church for 36 years and was deeply devoted to the Children’s Ministry. Alongside her husband of 51 years, Charles “Chirpy” Fitzwater, they served faithfully for 32 years in the Wesleyan Virginia District Kids Camp.

Debbie is survived by her husband, Charles “Chirpy” Fitzwater; a daughter and son-in-law, Mandy and Scott Highberger; a son, Matt Fitzwater; and her grandchildren, Matthew Fitzwater II, Zach Highberger, Brandon Highberger and Kaytlyn Highberger. She is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Linda Rumburg; two sisters, Sue Kimrey and Pamela Rumburg; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; special “sister”, Linda Jenkins, and best friend of 37 years, Wanda Cochran.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, March 20, 2023, at Emmanuel Wesleyan Church.  Interment will follow in Restvale Cemetery, at 1:30 PM.  The family will receive friends Sunday from 4 to 7 PM, at the church. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Emmanuel Wesleyan Church, designated to the Children’s Ministry.
