Obituary for Debra Giles

Debra "Debbie" Giles was a caring wife, mom, maw maw, sister, and friend. She went to her heavenly home unexpectedly on October 21, 2023, at the age of 70 years old.  She was preceded in death by her father and mother, her step-mother, Laura Leanna Patsel Jackson and her father-in-law, Ralph Giles.

She was born to Donald and Peggy Jackson on February 19, 1953. She met and fell in love with the love of her life and husband, Sanford “Sandy” Giles, and was happily married for 49 years.

Debbie loved caring for her family and her golden doodle, Winston. She and her father were the first father-daughter duo to be inducted into the Bowler's Hall of Fame. She was a lifelong member of the Girl Scouts of America and retired from the organization, where she had served as a New Membership Coordinator. She enjoyed watching all sports and never let a day pass without having a sports game on the TV. She had a particular passion for college football and "College GameDay."

She is survived by her husband, Sandy Giles; son, Scott Giles, and his wife, Kara; a special granddaughter, Gia; mother-in-law, Mildred Giles; step-sister, Phyllis Price; step-brothers, Willard Barnard and Paul Barnard; half-sister, Margaret McIlhaney Paxton; and half-brother, Kent McIlhaney Jr., as well as numerous other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Oakey's North Chapel, with Pastor Gary Alls officiating.  Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM, at the funeral home.
