Obituary for Dorrene Whorton
Dorrene Whorton, of Roanoke, passed away on Friday February 16, 2021. She was the daughter of the late Alvin and Marcie Whorton (Alabama). She is survived by her sister Rebecca Whorton, Louisiana and friend Katrina Howbert (Virginia). Dorrene earned her B.S. in nursing from the University of Alabama, and an M.B.A. in Virginia. Dorrene worked 39 years at Carilion Clinic in the neonatal unit and with Care Connection. A Celebration of Life will be held at
2 pm on Thursday, April 15, 2021, at Oakey's South Chapel, 4257 Brambleton Ave. S.W., Roanoke, VA. (540) 989-3131. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Francis Service Dogs. www.saintfrancisdogs.org
