Edward
Teller
Edward (Ed) Ray Teller passed away at his home on January 1, 2023, at 93. He was born on May 16, 1929, in Nyack, New York, and was a long-time Cave Spring resident. He was married to Bettina Teller, who died in 2018 after sharing his life and dreams for 68 years. He is survived by his son Craig Teller and his wife India of Columbia SC, his son Ed Teller and his Wife Beth of Cave Spring; and his daughter Nanci Lee and her husband Gary Willard of Penhook, VA; his five grandchildren Christy Sisson, Troy Sisson (Shana), Aaron Teller (Mary), Tori Teller, and Carly Teller; and three great-grandchildren, Iryan Sisson, Kenley Teller and Scarlett Teller. He also leaves behind a very special friend and companion, Odell James.
Ed was a WWII Army veteran, serving in the occupation of Japan. He was in thread and zipper sales for most of his life, working for Coats and Clark and traveling the world into his 80s for Ideal Fastener Corp. He was a long-time Cave Spring Baptist Church member and volunteered at area assisted living facilities, singing songs loved by the Frank Sinatra generation. His favorite Sinatra song was a testament to his attitude and drive, “I Did it My Way.” Rising from humble beginnings as a “latchkey” child, obtaining a GED after his military service and working on the assembly line in factories, he rose to become a top salesman for several major corporations through sheer determination and hard work.
Ed will be remembered for his enduring devotion to the family, wonderful sense of humor, and engaging personality…he could talk to anyone, including the Governor of Virginia, on a ski slope. He will be greatly missed and remembered by all who knew him.
