Obituary for Edward "Jim" Williamson Jr.

Edward James “Jim” Williamson, Jr., 86, of Roanoke, VA, formally of Tiverton, Rhode Island passed away peacefully on Monday, May 8, 2023.



 



Jim served in the Navy from June 29, 1958, to June 28, 1962, with a rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade upon his honorable discharge. He worked for the U.S. Department of the Navy as a contract specialist. After his retirement, he founded a private consulting group. Jim was president of the local neighborhood watch in Northern Virginia, NCMA vice president and secretary of his local chapter, and an HOA officer in two communities. He was a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy in Leonardtown, Maryland, Brown University, and The George Washington University. Jim enjoyed great food, drawing pictures, socializing with friends, and spending time at Smith Mountain Lake. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend.



 



Jim was preceded in death by his parents Gracie and Edward “Eddie” James Williamson, Sr. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Teresa E. Williamson; his daughters, Annemarie Mays, and Beth Whittenberg (Jason); granddaughter, Ashley Mays; and several special cousins. The family wishes to thank Jim’s caregivers, Susan and Tamra.

 



A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at 3:00 pm at Oakey’s South Chapel in Roanoke, VA. Rev. Mr. Dan Derringer will be officiating. Family will receive friends May 18, 2023, at the conclusion of the memorial service. Inurnment will follow at a later date at Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery.



 



In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
