Obituary for Ellen Hunter (Andrews)

Ellen Finley Andrews Hunter passed away Thursday, May 20, 2021. She was born in Roanoke, VA to the late William Lee Andrews and Ellen Finley Andrews. Ellen Finley was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Evant Hunter Jr., infant great granddaughter Charlotte Frances Hunter, and her two brothers William Lee Andrews Jr. and James Buchanan Andrews. Ellen Finley was raised on Greendale Farms and graduated from Jefferson High School and Mary Baldwin College. She was a member of the Junior League, The Roanoke Assembly and The Modern Arts Club. She was a lifelong member of St. John’s Episcopal Church. Ellen Finley will be remembered for her devotion to family and friends, her style and southern charm and her keen sense of humor. She lived a full life and enjoyed good health until very recently. She is survived by her two children, Charles (Chuck) E. Hunter III (Joan), and Ellen Hunter Vinson (Bruce Harrison), grandchildren Charles E Hunter IV (Holly), John Spencer Hunter (Katherine), Hunter Duval Vinson and Ellen Finley Andrews Vinson, four dear great grandchildren Alice Elizabeth Hunter, Ellen Welles Hunter, John Hankla Hunter and Sarah Elizabeth Hunter. Also surviving are three sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law and many dear nieces and nephews.
