Lois Evelyn Evans Wirt, 90, of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 in Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital around 2:30 p.m.

She was a lifetime member of First Baptist church in Roanoke where she was married in 1949.

My memory of love will always be of you! She loved her three sons more than anything in life. What a great memory she left them with her guidance, support, and faith! She was always there in the best of times and through the many ups and downs life sometimes has to offer.

When we talked with her on the phone, she would always end the conversation by telling us how much she loved us! We will miss that more than anything! She loved the outdoors, the birds, flowers, and wildlife viewing! Oh, Mom how can spring arrive without you?

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy E. Wirt Jr.; her youngest son, Gregory Wirt; her two brothers, Robert Evans and Thomas Evans; and her parents, Emory and Lillian Evans.

She is survived by her two sons, Steven Wirt, and Frank Wirt and his wife, Renee.

A Graveside Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 30, 2020, at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.

Hey Frank it’s Steve Stewart. I was so sorry to hear about your mom’s passing. I remember coming to your house back in our high school days and your mother was so kind and full of laughter. I just loved hearing her talk. As we get older ourselves I’m sure you feel the same way as I do in meaning, that our parents instilled in us values that we really didn’t want to adhere to, but now we understand. I learned those things as well from your mother cause as she spoke to you about life’s challenges, she was also speaking to me. There’s nothing more precious than a mother’s love for her children, and she shared that with all of us as your friends. I know you will miss her. I trust that Jesus has welcomed her into her eternal rest in heaven. Just to think back too Frank about all the good times we had in that brown rambler cruising around drinking Dr Pepper and listening to that station in Chicago on the radio. Just wanted to let you know my old friend that I was thinking about you and will keep you in my prayers and that God will give you strength and encouragement in the days ahead. sincerely, steve

Evelyn was influential in my introduction to Virginia back in the mid 70ties. She was the bookkeeper at Dominion Sign Company back then. What a wonderful example of kindness and goodness. I took many of my breaks sitting in her office where we swapped stories and talked about everything under the sun. She was so intelligent. She was so passionate about her family. In those seven or eight years I was never more inspired by a person. She was so excited when our first child Pete was born. Evelyn was so generous with child rearing stories. Her home spun philosophy was exactly what our young family needed. We kept in touch over the past 40 some years and i deeply regret not spending more time visiting her. The world could use more people like Evelyn. Our sincerest sympathies to the family!

Evelyn's comments always made me laugh. She was a good sister-in-law and I will miss talking to her on the phone. I so enjoyed her & Steve's visit to me in Richmond several months ago.
