Lt. Col. Georgia G. Burton Erickson, USAF (Retired), 84, of Roanoke, VA, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2023, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bilton and Lillie Burton of Tazewell, VA; her husband of 47 years, Robert D. “Bob” Erickson in 2018; her brother, Charles K. Burton; and her brother-in-law, James W. Erickson.

She is survived by her sister, Kathleen Wood of Roanoke, VA; brother, William “Bill” Burton of Tazewell, VA; nephews, Zack Burton of Marion, VA, Nick Burton of Cornelius, NC, Charles Burton Jr. of Daleville, VA, and Tony Wood of Troutman, NC; nieces, Sharon Campbell and Brian of Gray NC, Angela Carraway and Allen of Vinton, VA, Jennifer and Stewart, Kim Puckett and Donnie of Roanoke, VA, and Paula Williams and Ted of Roanoke, VA; stepdaughter and her husband, Mrs. Julie Anne Erickson Lind and Carrol of Ogden, IA; three stepsons and their wives, John E. and Susan Erickson of Oklahoma City, OK, Robert W. and Margaret Ellen Erickson of Kimberly, ID, and Richard W. and Melissa Erickson of Castro Valley, CA; seven granddaughters and spouses, Mrs. Rachel Emmons Kenney and Bruce of Bozeman, MT, Mrs. Michelle Gerstein Hill and Brian, of Iowa Falls, IA, Ms. Carolyn Erickson of Oklahoma City, OK, Mrs. Mary Jane Erickson Bowman and Kent II of Edmond, OK, Mrs. Georgia Grace Erickson Arnold and Eric, of Helena, MT, Miss Whitney Erickson of Kimberly, ID, and Miss Dayton Erickson of Castro Valley, CA; five grandsons and spouses, Jason and Jen Lind of Dardenne Prairie, MO, Jerry and Jill Lind of Stevensville, MI, John William and Kyli Erickson of Oklahoma City, OK, Matthew and Danielle Erickson of Oklahoma City, OK, and Nathan and Jessica Erickson of Kimberly, ID; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Erickson was born in Tazewell, VA, on June 21, 1938, and graduated from Tazewell High School in 1955. She was a Varsity high school cheerleader. She graduated from The Jefferson School of Nursing in Roanoke, VA.

The Funeral Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at Oakey’s South Chapel with Rev. Jennifer Fletcher officiating. Her Pallbearers will be Zack Burton, Nick Burton, Charles Burton, Tony Wood, Bryce Williams, Jake Puckett and Ted Williams along with Honorary Pallbearers, Doug Hepenstal and Bobby Erickson. Interment will follow in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with Full Military Honors. The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday evening, January 31, 2023, at Oakey’s South Chapel.
