Iva Josephine Whitson, 83, of Salem, passed away, Friday, August 12, 2022. She was born in Roanoke, Virginia on December 16, 1938 to the late George Leonard Weaver and the late Gillie Irene Poff Weaver. She was preceded in death by sisters, Francis Barger and Virginia Secrist; brother, George (Butch) Weaver and an infant child, Angela Whitson.
She is survived by five children; I.J. Leonard Whitson (Judy Craighead Whitson), Robin Hall, Debbie J. Jones (spouse, Thomas (Wes) Boone, Cynthia Eakin (spouse, Steven Eakin), Lenora Montuori (widowed, Antonio Montuori); grandchildren, James “Eric” Whitson (spouse, Heather), Erica Mundy (spouse, Dennis), Anna Phillips (spouse, Brandon), Jared Jones, Mitchell Eakin (spouse, Allie), Nora Rodriguez (spouse, Jay), Kristina Montuori, and Vincenza (Vinny) Montuori; great grandchildren: Lauren Spry, Kailey & Kinsley Whitson, Trevor and Madelyn Mundy, Briley and Lane Eakin, Quinn Rodriguez and Baker Phillips, as well as a great, great grandchild, Hudson Mundy.
The family will receive friends, Monday, August 15, 2022 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM and Tuesday, August 16, 2022 from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM at the Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at 2:00 PM in the Oakey's Roanoke Chapel with Rev. Johnny Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in the Fair View Cemetery.
