Obituary

On Wednesday, April 14, 2021 James Lewis Earles Jr., age 65, of Roanoke, Virginia went Home to be with our Lord and Savior. Born in Radford on July 4, 1955, he went on to graduate from Virginia Tech and a career with WDBJ7. He was a man of Christ, an avid sports fan, and a devoted Father.

He was preceded in death by his Father and Mother, James Lewis Earles Sr. and Velma Jean Britt Earles, his Sister Carol Lewis Earles, and infant Sister that died at birth.

James is survived by his loving Daughters, Katherine “Katie” Brown (Charlie), Kendall Misenheimer (Rusty), soon-to-be grandson Boone; his devoted Son, James Kirkwood “Kirk” Earles, and their Mother Linda Kirkwood. Also survived by his Niece Kristen Gutzmer, and her family; Aunt, Carol Jean Britt; and Uncle Charles Luther, as well as many other relatives and dear friends.

The family will hold a private memorial service at Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Diabetes Association or Cambria Baptist Church, Christiansburg, Va.

2 Corinthian’s 12

6 Even if I should choose to boast, I would not be a fool, because I would be speaking the truth. But I refrain, so no one will think more of me than is warranted by what I do or say, 7 or because of these surpassingly great revelations. Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Such sweet, fond memories of Jim! Lots of fun times when we were all young. We will never forget his laugh and beautiful smile that will live on through his children. Memories we will cherish in our hearts for years to come! He is in no more pain and is in the presence of our Lord and Savior. Our thoughts and prayers have and will continue to be with the family during these most difficult days. Isaiah 40:28-31
We love you! Tim and Vicki Mason
