Obituary for James Powell
James Elwood Powell, age 84, of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2020 in Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
He was a retired Truck Driver having worked many years at Russell Transfer.
Surviving are his three sisters, Norma Saunders, Claudine James, and Mazie Marshall; daughter, Brenda Kay Powell, son, Ricky Powell, daughter, Sherry Powell Harris, and son, James E. (Jamie) Powell Jr; several grandchildren, including a special grandson, Brandon Lee Powell; several nieces and nephews, and his longtime loving and devoted companion, Debra Rodgers.
James was preceded in death by his mother, Russell Virginia Woods Powell and father, Claude Albert Powell.
A private burial service will be held in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin, Virginia.
