My sister was kind, caring , and loved her family. When her illness was diagnosed, she told me she would keep a positive attitude and accept whatever came her way. She always kept her smile and reached out to help others. A special lady!! Love you, Sis.

As a Trustee for HopeTree Family Services, it was my pleasure to work with Jan for many years. We worked together on many walk-a-thons and other fundraising projects. She was a wonderful ambassador for HopeTree, and the seeds she planted with donors will produce considerable fruit for years to come. I will always remember her sweet, kind spirit and how she put a very high premium on the value of friendships and relationships. I remember when she retired from HopeTree that she was especially looking forward to having more time to spend with grandchildren. I regret that I cannot be there today in person for her memorial service due to a conflict with a court case that was previously scheduled, but my thoughts and prayers will be there with you as members of her family. Sincerely, John Mizell, Richmond, VA

Dear Stephen and Jamie - Jeanne and I wanted to express our sympathy to the two of you. Your mom was a great lady. she lived her life with the cup always half full. I know how hard it is to lose your mom, but know that she truly brightened the world around her. She will be missed. All our love to you two and know that we pray for God's peace for you as you mourn her loss.

I worked with Jan at Virginia Baptist Children's Home for several years. She was such a sweet co-worker and I had great respect for her. I am so very sorry for your loss.
