Obituary for John "Jack" Kessler

John C. “Jack” Kessler, 88 of Troutville passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 2, 2022. Jack was born on March 13, 1933 in Pennsylvania to Leonard and Georgia Mills Kessler. He is preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Shirley I. Kessler; his second wife, Betty Jo Kessler; and third wife, Barbara D. Kessler; as well as his daughter-in-law, Mary A. Kessler.

Jack proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He retired from the Norfolk Southern Railway as a Data Control Analyst. Jack was a Christian man who walked in faith with God, and was a member of Shenandoah Baptist Church. He enjoyed working with children through the church’s AWANA program and Camp Eagle in Fincastle, and coaching his sons in Little League sports. Jack had a good sense of humor and will be greatly missed by his loved ones.

He is survived by his children, Jimmy A. Kessler, John T. Kessler (Susan), Jeff P. Kessler (Telesa) and Susan R. Kessler (David Martin); his 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and extended family members.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at Oakey’s North Chapel with Pastor Skip Furrow officiating. The family will receive friends at a Visitation on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Camp Eagle Fund in care of Shenandoah Baptist Church, 6520 Williamson Rd, Roanoke, VA 24019, as Camp Eagle held a special place in Jack’s heart.
