John Thomas Rice, of Roanoke, Virginia, was born August 18, 1934 and died Saturday, July 30, 2022 at the age of 87. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Henry McEwan Rice and Helen Vaughn Peters Rice. Also preceding him in death are his grandparents, Abraham Rice and Barbara Catherine Kesler Rice, Joseph Anderson Peters and Katherine Vaughn Rice, all of whom were born in Virginia except for Abraham, who was born in eastern PA. His brothers and sisters that preceded him in death are James Hampton Rice, Joseph Abraham Rice, Martha Katherine Rademacher, Helen Louise Milton Keith Ridgeway, Annie Mae Varcak, Audrey Jean Horsley and Myrtle Elizabeth Rice.
John is survived by a brother, Philip Carroll Rice and wife Joyce.
John served in the US Air Force from January 1954 to December 1957 and was stationed at Sampson AFB New York and Erding AFB Germany. He retired from United Airlines in 1990.
