Obituary for John "J.T." Smith
John T. "J.T." Smith, 80, of Mount Sydney, Virginia and formerly of Charles Town, West Virginia, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2020.
He was born on September 15, 1939 in Richmond, Virginia to Mamie Francis Smith and James A. Smith Jr. In addition to his parents, John was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Ima Smith; sisters, Ann and Mary; and brothers, James A. “Jim” Smith Jr. and Bernard Smith.
Surviving to cherish his memory is his son, Michael A. Smith; daughter-in-law, Ann Smith; granddaughter, Kylie Smith; son, Jason D. Smith; granddaughter, Parker Smith; and grandson, Rowan Smith.
He loved antiques, sports, and horses. John became a Jockey at a young age and was also a trainer and owner of race horses. John spent most of his life working for the American Totalisator Company at the Charles Town Race Track.
