John David VanHouten of Roanoke, Virginia passed away suddenly at home on Friday, January 13, 2023 at the age of 62 years old.

He is preceded in death by Mother, Carol (VanHouten) Galvin. He is survived by his Wife, Melinda Brinkley VanHouten; step-children, Tara Wu and Husband Mike, Rachel Waddell and partner Josh Taylor, and Michael Brinkley; Sister, Julia VanHouten – Barker of Vinton; Brother, Ted VanHouten and Wife Maria of Hampton; Sister, Cindy VanHouten Morales and Husband Edgar of Puerto Morelos, Mexico; Uncle, R D. "Buzz" VanHouten and wife Tracy; and Aunt, Patricia Streiff of Michigan. He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren, and 2 nephews.

John was an avid music lover, a wonderful cook, and a Stephen King fan. He will be greatly missed.

A celebration of his life will be held at Oakey’s South Chapel on Thursday, January 19, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
