Joyce Schillen Simmons, 89 of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on January 3, 2023. Born on May 20, 1933 to the late Claude M. Schillen and Irene Wade Schillen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Raymond A. Simmons and sister Betty S. Turner.

Surviving are her daughters, Susan A. Simmons and Mary Elizabeth S. Bryant and her husband Jimmy. Grandson, Evan D. Jacobs. Brother-in-law, Leonard R. Turner, sister-in-law, Nina Van Dyke and husband Wayne, sister-in-law, Mary Jane Simmons, brother-in-law, Larry Simmons and wife Molly. Special cousin, John Partin and wife Debbie, many nieces and nephews, cousins and "Cindy" the cat.

Joyce was a member of Bible Baptist Church and loved her church family. Special thanks to Friendship South Health and Rehab Center for the kind and compassionate care they gave to our mom. 

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 9, 2023 from 1:00 - 2:00 pm, at Oakey's South Chapel, with the Funeral Service following at 2:00 pm with Pastor Rick Brown officiating. Interment to follow at Franklin Memorial Park.
