Doris June Basham Haynes, 90, of Roanoke passed away after a short illness on Monday, January 2, 2023. She was born in Bedford, VA to Nicholas J. and Jewell B. Basham. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of nearly sixty-one years, James C. Haynes, Sr.

June made it her life goal to love and care for her husband, children and grandchildren. Throughout her life, June was a faithful member and nursery volunteer of Cave Spring Baptist Church, a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and more recently of Penn Forest Christian Church.

Surviving are her children, J. C. and Barbara Haynes, of Franklin, TN, Anita and Warren Lamont Lancaster, Debra Cook, all of Roanoke; her grandchildren, Matt Haynes and Nick Lawson, Ian Haynes, June Haynes, Michael Cronise, Forrest and Whitney Cronise, Rachel Cook and Fiance, Michael Tran, Jaime and Jed Redcay, Abbey and Justin Howlett; twelve great-grandchildren; twin sister, Jeanne Ashwell; brother-in-law, Don Haynes; a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 13, 2023 at Penn Forest Christian Church from 5 until 8 p.m. and on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church. A celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Penn Forest Christian Church, Tim Thompson, Minister, officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
