Obituary for Jutta Thompson (Stahlberg)

Jutta Stahlberg Thompson, 85, of Roanoke, VA passed away on Friday, December 30, 2022. Jutta was born on February 17, 1937 in Kehnert, Germany. She was the youngest child of Paul and Anna Neimann Stahlberg.

Jutta came to the United States in 1965 and worked for Roanoke Valley Motors and Berglund Automotive until her retirement. Jutta was an excellent cook and baker and enjoyed cooking traditional German dishes for her family. She loved her home and her dogs and for many years was frequently seen walking her beloved Chow Chow, Max, around the Grandin Area. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed planting and maintaining her flower beds and yard. Jutta was the happiest at home with her family around her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Thompson; her parents, Paul and Anna Stahlberg; sister, Hella Krankemann.

Jutta is survived by her daughters, Denise Wolfe, of Roanoke, Sonja Morgan, of Troutville; son and daughter-in-law, Swen and Theresa Thompson, of Blacksburg; grandchildren, Christian and Adam Wolfe, Charles (Bailey) Morgan, Benjamin and Hannah Wynn.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Oakey’s South Chapel with Rev. Nelson Harris officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Burial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
