Obituary for Kamel Francis
Kamel James Francis, 91, of Roanoke, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2023.
Kamel was a United States Navy veteran having served on the USS Tarawa during the Korean War. For most of his life he was self-employed and in his later years worked for Rusco Window Company and Dunman Floral Supply.
Kamel enjoyed a good long life. He loved the outdoors and taking long walks.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Abdallah (AC) and Mary Francis and an infant daughter.
He is survived by his two sisters, Hannah Assaid and Theresa Willis, a son, Anthony (AC) Francis and wife, Nancy; 2 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and two special friends, Sandra and Wayne.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Brookdale of Roanoke and Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for the attention and kindness given.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Oakey’s South Chapel on Brambleton Ave, Roanoke. The funeral service will be held following the visitation at 2:00 p.m. with Father Christopher Masla officiating. Interment will follow at St. Andrew’s Catholic Cemetery.
