Obituary for Katherine "Kitty" Fugate
Katherine Leonard Fugate (Kitty) 77, of Roanoke, passed away on June 12, 2020.
Kitty was born on August 1, 1942 in Roanoke, VA to the late Emmett and Nellie Leonard. Left to cherish her memory are her devoted sons Bill Fugate, Jimmy Fugate and Ronnie Fugate (Tonda); grandchildren Haley and Ryan Fugate, Justin Pleasants; sister Betty Nelson (Alex), brother Jim Leonard (Vicki) and a host of nieces and nephews all of whom she adored.
Kitty was a lifetime employee of Allstate where she retired in 2000 and was a member of Our Lady of Nazareth Catholic Church. She loved traveling to Myrtle Beach with her longtime friends and spending time with her family, especially attending events for her grandchildren. She enjoyed yard sales, reading books, crossword puzzles and crocheting. Kitty always liked to play practical jokes and absolutely loved everything Coca-Cola.
A service celebrating Kitty’s life will be held at 11:00 on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at Oakey’s South Chapel with Rev. Msgr. Patrick Golden officiating. In lieu of flowers, family and friends are encouraged to make a donation in Kitty’s honor to Feeding Southwest Virginia or Our Lady of Nazareth Catholic Church. Arrangements by Oakey’s South Chapel.
