Obituary for Kinzer Otterman
On May 6, 2021, Kinzer Otterman, a loving husband, and father of four children passed away at age 88.
Kin was born on August 21, 1932, in Radford, VA to Kinzer and Susie Otterman.
Kinzer is survived by his wife, of 66 years, Carolyn.
Kin was a proud veteran of The First Infantry Division (The Big Red One) of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a salesman in the Roanoke Valley for many years and a member of the choir at Highland Park United Methodist Church. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, Detroit Tigers, and the University of Virginia. He enjoyed camping, reading, and watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son John, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Kinzer is survived by his sons Charles and his wife Bridgett, James and his wife Missy, daughter Kinta Noble and her husband John, grandchildren Joshua, Hannah, Jacob, Kristin, Tessa, Wesley, Andrew, Tawni, numerous great-grandchildren, and his dog and friend Anna Marie and her brother Riley.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at The Veterans Administration Medical Center in Salem, VA.
The family will be receiving friends from 11 am to 12 pm Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Oakey’s Roanoke Chapel, 318 Church Avenue, followed by a graveside service led by Pastor Kevin Kinsey of Central Church of the Brethren and the Reverend Doug Akers, at Evergreen Burial Park in Roanoke.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Central Church of the Brethren in Roanoke, DAV, or the Angels of Assisi.
