Obituary for Marguerite Covington (Allen)
Marguerite Allen ( Rita ) Covington, 78, of Salem, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 28, 2022. Rita retired from Carilion Clinic with 29 years of service and was a longtime member of Forest Park Baptist Church.
Rita will always be remembered for being a very nice, caring and considerate person, always putting others before herself.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Lewis Covington Jr, her parents, Ernest Allen and Daisy Barger Allen, her 2 sisters, Debbie McDaniel and Mary Lee Downs, and a brother, Jimmy Allen.
Rita is survived by her 3 brothers and a sister, William Allen and wife Mary Jane, Betty June Sims, George “Doc” Allen and wife Jan, and Charles Allen. Also, several nieces and nephews as well as many great nieces and great nephews, and her cherished pet, Tinkerbell.
A Funeral Service will be conducted at 2 pm on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at Oakey’s Roanoke Chapel with the Rev. Rayshon Cobbs Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or to Breast Cancer Awareness.
