Obituary for Marshall Denison

Marshall Keith Denison, 30, of Roanoke, passed on January 5th, 2023 surrounded by his family.  He is survived by his father Wally Denison, mother Kelly Denison, and sister Mallory Denison.

Marshall was born on October 23, 1992 in Roanoke Virginia.  Marshall was born with cerebral palsy and though he was physically limited, he was known best for his brilliant smile and joyful laugh.

Marshall had a deep love of music, especially country music.  Though his favorite was always recordings made during his time at Andrew Lewis Middle School in Mrs. Bowles choir class.  He loved going on adventures in his van, particularly cruising on the Blue Ridge Parkway and riding through the Virginia Safari Park feeding the animals.  Marshall was also very active in the Amateur Radio community along with his family.  He was member number 142.1 of the Virginia Fone Net, he was an honorary lifetime member of the Roanoke Valley Amateur Radio Club, and he was best known as the sheriff of the 805 Ragchewers Net.

Marshall was blessed to have an extended family in his team of home health nurses, many of whom were with him for a majority of his life.  Penny Mitchell, Leola Lemons, Leann Frith, Marian Musgrove, and many others were by his side around the clock each day ensuring he received the best medical care.  His time with his nurses was special and they enriched his life beyond just medical care.  He enjoyed doing crafts with Penny, taking van rides with Leola, watching the Fast and the Furious movies with Marian, and enjoying stories from Leann about her boys’ adventures.

The celebration of Marshall’s life will be held Monday January 9th at 11am at Mill Creek Baptist Church in Fincastle with a reception to follow.  For those who cannot attend in person the service will be livestreamed on Facebook Live through Mill Creek Baptist Church of Fincastle Virginia.
