Obituary for Mary Prescott (Bradley)

Mary “Mickey” Prescott, age 94, of Roanoke, died Saturday, April 3, 2021 following a brief illness. She was the daughter of late Brig. Gen. William and Mary Frances Bradley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald Prescott and her sister, Francy. She is survived by her children, Mary Metzger (Jon), Timothy (Sena), Sarah Sautter (Scott), Amy White (John) and Matthew (Catherine); 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Mickey was born in Fort Sam Houston, Texas and grew up living on Army posts and stations in the U.S., Philippines and Japan. Mickey attended her beloved Stephens College in Columbia, MO and graduated from George Washington University, Washington, D.C. Mickey was a lifelong member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. Upon graduation, Mickey worked for U.S. Army Intelligence until her marriage to Donald in Sapporo, Japan in 1953. Mickey was a member of The Colonial Dames of America, The Colonial Dames of the 17th Century, and The DAR (Col. William Preston Chapter). Mickey was an avid gardener, quilter, golfer, genealogist and volunteer in every community she lived in. The family wishes to acknowledge the thoughtful care and support of the Brandon Oaks Lifecare community. A private family burial was held at Evergreen Cemetery on Thursday, April 8 and a celebration of life will be held this summer with details to be announced.
