Patsy Jean Garland, 71, of Roanoke, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 5, 2023. She was born in Roanoke, Virginia on September 17, 1951 to the late James Curtis Branagan and Ruby Pauline Branagan. She was also preceded in death by her son, Terry Underwood; and her sister, Gloria Poff.

She is survived by her husband, Walter Edward Garland; her children, Donald Underwood, Roni Dillon, Robert Garland and Mandi Garland; her grandchildren, Shianne Garland, Shane Garland, Rene Underwood, Aaron Underwood, Joseph Underwood, Michael Underwood and so many more.  She is also survived by her brothers and sister, Tommy Branagan, Donna Nunley and Michael Branagan; other family members include Nikki Nunley, Tracey Underwood and Brittany Bledsoe.

Anyone who knew Pat knows how much love she gave to anyone around her.  She loved spending time with family and friends and playing Bingo! She had a great sense of humor and loved butterflies and lighthouses.

She enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She meant the world to so many people.  She put everyone before herself.  She will be missed beyond measure.

The family wishes to thank anyone who made her laugh or smile.  She deserved that.

A Memorial Service will be held at Oakey’s Vinton Chapel on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 before the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Shianne Garland.
