Roberdeau Wheat Wallenborn died in his home at Smith Mountain Lake on Wed. at the age of 90 years. He was born in Salisbury, NC on, Oct. 4. 1931. After graduating Lane High School, he completed a bachelors degree in mechanical and electrical engineering and masters of business administration from UVA, receiving many accolades. He served as 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army for 2 years after his undergraduate studies. Wheat was an active member of the Episcopal church, the Rotary Club for 36 years and educational programs for youth fostering personal growth and leadership. He is preceded in death by his parents Peter Ambrose Wallenborn, Sr. and Elizabeth McKenzie Wallenborn, sister Alice Lorraine Wallenborn, and brother Peter A. Wallenborn, Jr. MD. Surviving are his loving wife of 50 years, Dale Bishop Wallenborn, daughters Katherine Barham , Suzanne Fletcher (Gary) and Shelley Barham, grandchildren Melissa Fletcher, Allison Fletcher and Laura Barham . Also, surviving are his brother White McKenzie “Ken” (Lucy) Wallenborn, MD and numerous nieces and nephews. Wheat was a kind, gentle and loving family man and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, you may make donations to Trinity Ecumenical Parish or charity of your choice. A Memorial Service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m.on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Trinity Ecumenical Parish, Moneta, VA.
