Obituary for Robert Boger

Robert (Bob) Charles Boger of Roanoke, Virginia went to be with the Lord on March 12, 2023.  Bob was retired from the United States Navy where he served 26 years.  Bob was a caring and loving family man. He was married to the love of his life, Darla Boger, for 21 beautiful years. He also extended his love to his daughter by marriage, Kali Evans, although he loved her as if she were his own.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, helping those around him, and in recent months, playing with his new grandson. He was so proud to be a “PawPaw” and he was the best there ever was. Bob was a devoted husband and father and made the lives of everyone he touched so much better.  He was a big piece of our hearts and family and he will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife Darla Boger, daughter Kali Evans, and brothers Joe and Mike Boger. Extended family includes his son-in-law Brandon Evans, and grandson Brayden Evans. Brother-in-law Charles McNew and Sisters-in-law Brenda Boger and Trudy McNew. Nieces and Nephews Danielle Keen, Elise Zack, Camden, Bentley, and Addy DeMoss, Brad and Nathan Loving.  And of course, his beloved dog, Tasha Boger.  He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Anna and Clifton Boger.

There will be a public visitation at 1 pm on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Oakey’s Funeral Service & Crematory 5188 Cloverdale Rd, Roanoke, VA 24019.  The graveside service will be held at 2pm at Old Dominion Memorial Gardens.  Reverend Katherine Bordwine will deliver a brief service.  Charles McNew will serve as a pall bearer.  Honorary pall bearers include Brandon Evans, Joe Boger, Mike Boger, Zack DeMoss, Brad Loving, Nathan Loving, Camden DeMoss, Bentley DeMoss, and Adrian Keen.   In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to either of Bob’s charities that were dear to his heart, The Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude’s Children Hospital.

We thank everyone for all of the love and support our family has been shown during this very difficult time.
