Ruby Marie Downs, 85, of Roanoke passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2022. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and attended at the Roanoke Ward. Ruby retired from Verizon and after her retirement she went to work for Oakey’s Funeral Service, Roanoke Chapel, where she later retired.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James L Downs and Minnie Eula Downs; three brothers, Kenneth Downs, Bobby Downs, Junior Downs; two sisters, Mary Ann Braley, Dorothy Newcomb; two brothers-in-law, Eldridge Newcomb, Harold Braley.

Ruby is survived by special nephew, Terry Newcomb; sister, Ruth Mullins and her husband, Charles; nephews and their wives, Gary (Wendy) Newcomb, Tim (Teresa) Myers, Mike (Karen) Newcomb, Mark (Jeanette) Newcomb, David Newcomb, Robert Newcomb; two great-nephews, Steven Newcomb, Travis Newcomb; many other nieces, nephews and other extended family.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Roanoke Ward at the Stake Center. Interment will follow at Evergreen Burial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 2, 2023 from 2 until 4 p.m. and from 6 until 8 p.m. at Oakey’s South Chapel.
