Obituary for Ruby Hazel Hall Wilson

Ruby Wilson, 83, of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away March 10, 2023, surrounded by her family after a battle with breast cancer. She was born in Salem, Virginia, to Robert Dallas Hall and Iva Poff Hall on May 10, 1939. She grew up in Roanoke with her brother Julius Edward Hall, having fun with neighborhood friends. She attended Jefferson High School, where she developed lifelong friendships and an appreciation for learning.

She worked at Plastics One until she retired after serving for more than 20 years. While she enjoyed working, she always knew her place was at home. She took pride in caring for her large family. When Ruby retired, she first began caring for her late husband, who was diagnosed with dementia. She loved listening to him play many musical instruments. After his passing, Ruby's time was filled with reading, working jigsaw puzzles, and crossword puzzles, playing board games with her family, and thrift shopping. She was a longtime member of Penn Forest Christian Church and, in more recent years, attended Brentwood Baptist Church.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother with an infectious smile and witty humor. She affectionately gave some of her children and grandchildren nicknames. She looked forward to visits from her grandkids and instilled in them a love and passion for family and devotion to Christ.

She is predeceased by her loving husband, Virgil, and one granddaughter, Shannon Perkins. She is survived by her children, Barry Perkins (Jenny), Regina Perkins Schaaff, Robbie Perkins, Donna Cannaday (Dean), Melanie Hensley, Patty Repass, Melinda Reynard (Doug); grandchildren: Kelly England (Jason), Jamey Robertson, Jennifer Hensley, Chris Jones, Paige Trent (Chris), Chasity Thomas (Robert), Shannon Jones, Alex Jones, Jared Repass (Melodie), Brandon Reynard (Haley); Sixteen great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members.
