Francis
Sarah Allison Francis of Roanoke, Va., passed away peacefully listening to her favorite birdsong videos on Monday, May 8, 2023.
Allison liked nothing better than being outside. She could walk for hours or just sit on the porch, by the campfire, or at the beach, just smiling and enjoying the sounds of the birds, the sunshine and feeling the breeze in her hair.
She is survived by her mother, Ann Janney-Schultz and her partner, Rick Sheridan; her father, Robert W. Francis and his wife, Beth Francis; her sister, Marianne Shick; and her second family, Kristen and Adam Camper and the Bryant family, Tammie, Daryl, Carrie, and Ashley.
The family would like to thank Wall Residences for providing support for the Bryants in their sponsored residential homes. With their help and sponsorship, Kristen and Adam and their family gave Allison a wonderful, full life we never dreamed was possible. We would also like to thank the nurses and doctors at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where she spent the last six weeks of her life. It would be impossible to name them all but without exception, the care was excellent and the staff, kind and compassionate, respectful, and informative. We are especially grateful to the staff in the Comfort Care Hospice Program whose compassion and knowledge made her last weeks as comfortable as possible and provided much-needed support for her family.
A virtual celebration of her life will take place at a later date so her family, who are scattered around the world, can participate.
In lieu of flowers, we are asking anyone who is so inclined to make a donation to the LGS Foundation, supporting and making life easier for families of people with Lennox Gastaut Syndrome, a very rare form of epilepsy that was a life-long affliction for Allison. You can learn more and find the memorial donation link at http://LGSfoundation.org.
