Obituary for Shelborne "Billy" James
Mr. Shelborne David “Billy” James, of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away peacefully with his loving daughter by his side on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at the age of 92. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and retired from Singer Furniture after 42 years of dedicated service. He was a member of Access 17th Street Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gratton and Etta Mills James; wife, Rosa Brumfield James; brothers, Russell James, William James, Hubert James; sisters, Christine Stump, Margaret Palmer, Rebecca Altice.
Those left to cherish his loving memories are his sisters, Beulah Childress and Doris Price; loving daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Blevins and husband, Kenneth Ray Blevins; granddaughter, Lisa Blevins Burroughs and husband, Sherman Victor Burroughs IV; great granddaughters, Sarah and Rachel Burroughs and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends
A graveside service honoring Billy’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at Cedar Lawn Cemetery at 12:30 pm. Family will receive friends Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at Oakey’s Roanoke Chapel from 11 am until 12 Noon.
