Obituary for Sue Adams (Johnson)

Sue Johnson Adams, of Roanoke, Virginia, was born April 20, 1935 and passed away Thursday, May 19, 2022 at the age of 87.

She was a hairdresser for over 60 years in the Vinton and Mount Pleasant areas and made many friends throughout the years from her returning clients. Her family and her friends were her life. She was a very giving person who had a large and loving heart.

She was preceded in death by the father of her children, Riley W. Ware, and was also preceded in death by her second husband of over 30 years, James Lewis Adams.

Sue is survived by her daughter, Lynnette W. Martin and husband Tony and their children, Philip Hatter and wife Jessie, Sean Hatter and wife Alison, Angie Martin, and Amy Hodges and husband Chris. A son, Stephan Ware and wife Susan and their children, Caitlin Donlan and husband Tommy, Colin Ware and wife Holly. And a son, Mark Ware and his special friend Julie White. Also, ten great grandchildren.

Sue was preceded in death by a brother, Colin Johnson Jr. and his wife, Mary Alice “Ricki” Johnson. She is survived by her 2 brothers, Thurman Vester Johnson and wife Dona, and Wilford Lee “Babe” Johnson and was also preceded in death by Wilford Lee’s wife, Patsy Johnson. And is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 pm on Tuesday, May 24, in the Abbey Chapel of Sherwood Memorial Park with the Rev. Allison Burnette officiating and burial to follow.
