Thomas Wayne “Tommy” Morgan, 84, of Salem, Va., passed away on Thursday, November 18, 2021.


He was a past master of Lakeland Lodge #109 and a past postmaster at the Roanoke Post Office. Thomas was a well-rounded and philosophically minded person with a deep interest in theology. Friends and family were well-familiar with his quick wit and big heart. Thomas was an excellent listener and a provider for his family and friends alike. He was generous with his time and spent many hours volunteering at the VA, Shriners, and other community organizations.


Left to warmly treasure the memories of Thomas are his wife of sixty-five years, Doris Arrington Morgan; sons, David L. Morgan (Karen Hinton) and John B. Morgan (Michelle); grandchildren, Christen Morgan, J.T. Morgan, Amelia Morgan, and Haley Morgan; great-grandchildren, Gabriel D. Morgan and Mitchell W. Powell, Jr.; and dear friend, Lorene Scaggs. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, John D. Morgan and Zelda Orange Morgan; sister, Joyce Rosenbaum; and best friend, Bill Scaggs.


A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at Oakey’s Roanoke Chapel.
