Obituary for Virginia Trippeer (Cox)
Virginia Cox Trippeer, 87, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022.
She is survived by her daughters, Lynn Cornejo (Fred) and Leigh Ann Matherley (Buck); grandchildren, Brandon Cornejo, Jake Matherley (Madison), and Matthew Matherley; and a large extended Trippeer family whom she loved. She was predeceased by her parents, Elbert and Blanche Cox, and husband, James Trippeer.
Virginia was a longtime member of St. John’s Episcopal Church. She stayed active playing tennis, golf, and bridge with friends at Roanoke Country Club. After marrying a Hokie Virginia was converted into a lifelong Virginia Tech fan, having season tickets for football and basketball, and spending many wonderful times in Blacksburg with her family. She also enjoyed traveling and taking girls’ trips over the years.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at Oakey’s Roanoke Chapel with Rev. Nelson Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Burial Park. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers friends are invited to make contributions to the American Heart Association. Arrangements entrusted to Oakey’s Roanoke Chapel.
