Obituary for William O'Meara

William Michael O’Meara, 64, passed away at his home on Bent Mountain on Sunday, February 19, 2023, after a heroic 3-year battle with cancer.

William, known by Biff to friends and family, was born in Roanoke, VA on June 19, 1958 and was preceded in death by his parents, William Francis O’Meara and Doris Word Pollard. He is also preceded in death by his stepfather, Roy R. Pollard and his brother-in-law, Richard L. Myers.

William retired from Save-X USA, Inc. where he provided maintenance support to a chain of convenience store/gas stations in Southwest Virginia. Upon his retirement, he was lucky to a stay-at-home Dad for his two sons. This experience provided a bond of love and friendship that lasted his lifetime.

William is survived by his wife, best friend and soul mate of 32 years, Deborah Hillis O’Meara, his two amazing and selfless sons, Jonathan Michael O’Meara and fiancé Bre, also of Bent Mountain and William Christopher O’Meara of Roanoke, two grandchildren, which brought him great joy, Nolan Oliver O’Meara and Addilyn Elise O’Meara. He is also survived by two sisters, Helen Kathryn Roberts (Kent) and Linda Jo Myers, both of Roanoke, one nephew, Cameron Randolph Roberts of Den Hague, The Netherlands, two nieces, Kimberly Cockey (Joshua) of Baltimore, MD, Stephanie Shipley (Scott) of Lynchburg, VA, great nieces and nephews, Elizabeth Roebuck and Joshua Cockey of Baltimore, MD and Tyler Shipley (Kelsey) and Peyton Shipley of Lynchburg, VA and a very special aunt, Jean Smith of Richmond, VA. Other survivors include his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Sue and George Curme of Roanoke, sister-in-law, Lisa Hillis Browning (Bo) of Little Rock, Ark., and brother-in-law, Michael G. Curme (Emily) and niece, Emma of Doswell, VA.

As he wished, a private family service was conducted by Oakey’s South Chapel on Thursday, February 23, 2023 with interment held at Evergreen Burial Park.

Biff will be missed, but our love for him will never end. He adored his family and was always there for us. Until we meet again, we will hold him tight in our hearts.
